Pastor's Message

Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit our web site. I trust that you find it friendly and helpful.

In 1980, while serving in the United States Air Force, I was handed a gospel tract (God's Simple Plan of Salvation) that started a series of events in my life that would forever change its course. I am so thankful for the master sergeant that took the time to be a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ that day in the emergency room clinic where I had just given him a B-12 shot. Sergeant Bedell had not only given me a gospel tract, but he had invited me out to his church - Harvest Baptist Church. My wife and I attended the next Sunday that I was off and later joined that same church.

Spending the rest of my adult life working in the medical profession was the only thing I had considered, but God was working in my life. I eventually surrendered to the ministry to do whatever the Lord would choose for me. I left the Air Force in 1983 and attended Bible college at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana.

I graduated in 1987 and then spent the next year serving on staff back down in Charleston, SC, at Harvest Baptist. In the summer of 1988 my wife and I packed our belongings and headed for the Shenandoah Valley, Harrisonburg, VA. We knew no one, and no one knew us!

September 11, 1988 Grace Baptist Church had its first service in the Days Inn hotel. Our location has changed since that first service, but not our goal. People need the Lord, and we are attempting to introduce Harrisonburg, VA and the surrounding area's to the same saviour that the master sergeant introduced me to, Jesus Christ!

If you do not know that heaven will be your eternal home please feel free to contact the church. I would love to show you from the Bible that heaven can be your eternal home through Jesus Christ. If you have already trusted in Jesus to be your savior and are simply looking for a church to attend, we encourage you to contact the church as well.

Grace Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, Bible believing Baptist church. We believe that the Bible is God's written, preserved, and perfect Word! You may visit our Statement of Faith to view our beliefs.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop. We hope to see you soon.
